New Year’s Resolution: Getting (Your Hair) Back into Shape

How are your new year's resolutions going so far? Every year, most of us make goals that we want to accomplish. One of the most popular resolutions people make is getting back into shape. This should include getting your hair back into shape too! We’re talking to the ladies who are dealing with damaged hair. Make sure one of your 2019 goals is to get your healthy hair back!

In order to reverse any damage, we first need to figure out why it is happening. One of the most common reasons for damaged hair is heat! Damage can occur when your blow dryer, flat iron, curling iron, or even your shower water is too hot. You do not need to burn your hair in order to style it, in fact, some hair only needs tools as low as 290 degrees to style correctly!

To start reversing any heat damage, put your styling tools at the lowest heat setting and slowly raise until you’re happy with the styling results. Even while doing this though, your hair still needs protection from the heat. You should be protecting it from your styling tools and even the weather outside! Just like sunscreen for your skin, your hair needs the same kind of protection. Remember, even when there are clouds outside, you can still burn. When looking for a good product to protect your hair, it’s important to know that not every product is created equal. Even if it says it has protection, check with a K Bella stylist because there are no laws to regulate what companies put on their bottle labels. You want to guarantee you are getting a quality product.

Another reason your hair could be damaged is from not getting your haircut enough. Some hair is stronger than others and needs to have the ends cut more often so it doesn’t split. Once you let the hair split, the damage will persist and can quickly worsen. Also, sometimes hair can be extra weak due to your genetic make-up and therefore cannot be worn too long. Always schedule regular appointments with your K Bella stylist to ensure your hair is healthy.

Lastly, water may be the culprit. If your shower has hard water, it will continuously dry out and weaken your hair. A water filter and specific shampoos, such as Malibu Water WellnessMalibu Water Wellness, can help solve this problem. Also, make sure to only towel blot your hair when drying so it doesn’t cause friction and more damage.

This year, make a promise to your hair to keep it healthy. Start a hair care regimen with the right products so you can have amazing locks all 2019!

Did You Know K Bella is Growing?

2019 is starting with a big facelift for K Bella! We are expanding by 1300 square feet so we will be able to add more styling stations and two new treatment rooms. We are excited to have more seating for our clients as well as offering more openings for our currently booked services like lashes, spray tanning, facials and permanent makeup. Our new entrance will be to the right of our current door where Fluke Hearing used to be. They have generously moved over a space so we could make our dreams come true with a salon makeover. We will stay open during construction in our (even smaller) salon, but our goal is to open the new space before March. We cannot wait to share our new home with you!
