K Bella Owner, Kristan Sayers on MSNBC Discussing Merchant Fees
I was so surprised to get an email that asked me to take part in Ali Velshi's Saturday show on MSNBC recently!
The show had a panel of experts discussing the COVID-19 pandemic and how it has affected so many small businesses. I was able to ask a question to Kevin O'Leary from Shark Tank and asked the big question on how to save money in the new world K Bella will be opening back up to shortly. Small businesses everywhere are struggling with closures and having less business, so I hope this question and answer will benefit more than just our salon. I worry that merchant fees, and niceties such as wine, and snacks for our clients are the only areas that can be cut, so hearing them agree with me was comforting.
Unfortunately, I have already negotiated many times to some of the lowest rates possible, and I still pay an exorbitant price to process credit card payments. With PPE, not double booking, half the staff, and lengthening appointments by a minimum of 20 minutes, the profit and loss are not looking good for us as a business. I was also very lucky to get interviews with M-Live, WHMI, and Fox2 Detroit recently. I am trying to Unite my industry so that we have one place for communication. After this experience, I see the need for states to have an association for each industry. I am hoping that my voice can be heard and bring the industry together for us to better ourselves and serve our clients at the highest possible standards. I can't stand seeing the division and hate in the world and choose to bring the message of hope instead. We will be back, #kbellastrong
